REFRAME IT

One of the really cool things about recalling a difficult story in our past is that we have the ability to re-frame into something WE WISH IT WOULD HAVE BEEN. In a way, the old painful memory is washed and bathed with love and replaced with something less painful. 

There is something so empowering about reframing a painful memory, because then we have control over our feelings about the incident. This is also something you can do on your own, once you understand how the process works.

First, make sure you have a quiet place where you'll be uninterrupted for 15-30 minutes. Play what I call your "mind movie". This is the negative images along with the story you play on auto-repeat. Let these images and the story play in your mind for about a minute, as if you're watching a movie trailer. Then, play the movie trailer on how you wish the story would have been. Most of all, surround the new story with love and healing energy. It really works! You may need to practice a few times, but you will start to feel better within a few minutes.
